Amtrak 5, the westbound California Zephyr, rolls through Downers Grove, IL. The train was 30 minutes late after traffic along the BNSF Racetrack held them up, despite an on time departure from Chicago's Union Station.

A mere hour and a half before the CHP blocks off access to Emigrant Gap to the largest crowd it's seen in a long time, Amtrak train 6 makes it way east. This train had actually been following the 4014 excursion out of Roseville. When the incident we all know too well happened, they leap-frogged ahead on the original #1 track.

AMTK P42DC #104 leads Northeast Regional train 158 north through Dumfries, VA. The subject of the picture is a railroad crossing warning sign for the Cherry Hill Road crossing at the base of the hill.

Amtrak P42DC #174, the first of this model to be repainted into the new Phase VII livery, leads Northeast Regional train P176 into Alexandria Union Station a few weeks after receiving the new paint job.

The southbound Amtrak City of New Orleans #59 had a good looking P42 wearing the new phase 7 paint leading solo.

Amtrak 82 leads 1333 past CP Vermillion. While this was not the inaugural borealis, it was the first I saw, and in its first week of operation.

After a long chase of M442 up to Baldwin, FL in the morning, I decided to set up camp at the northern end of CSX's Moncrief Yard in Jacksonville, FL. Arriving there, I found 2 trains, NS 287 arriving into NS's Simpson yard in the distance and CSX L795 building his train for his return trip north. After seeing Amtrak train #98 was close enough, I drove to the other side of the tracks and within minutes up came Amtrak P098 slowly racing L795 towards its Jacksonville, FL station stop. Leading was a P42 which was a nice treat to end the day.

November 2022, I had set out in the hopes of catching AMTK 161, The Phase 1 Heritage Unit, Solo leading Amtrak P092-25. Here's AMTK P092 at Amtrak Winter Haven station. First opened in 1925, Winter Haven has served many railroads over the years, from serving the Seaboard Airline, to Amtrak, this station has seen it all, including its 1970's Amtrak "Arrow" Logo.

AMTK 206 leads Amtrak 8 past CP Red Rock on a cold march morning. While many Amtrak routes still have P42s commonly, this is the last time I've seen a set with only P42s. The Empire Builder now runs with almost exclusively ALC-42s.

Amtrak 98 is slowly coming out of its Orlando, FL station stop on a warm October day beginning its journey to New York City. 98 would have Amtrak 203, the 50th anniversary Operation Lifesaver special interest unit leading the way till D.C. This unit is unique as it is the only yellow Amtrak unit to exist to my knowledge.

Amtrak P097, the daily Silver Meteor running form New York City to Miami, FL, passes through the town of auburndale on a warm November Saturday. Today’s 97 would have Amtrak #160 leading, one of 6 50th anniversary units Amtrak did, this one being the “Pepsi can.” Date taken: 11/18/23.

AMTK #184 is seen leading AMTK #5, The California Zephyr on a warm July afternoon. I'm glad I've gotten the chance to see 184 in person as it would get repainted in early March of 2023, although we have 164 so...oh well.
